Migration Law - Changes to Skilled Occupation List (SOL) effective from 1 July 2016

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Australia has introduced a number of changes to the occupations listed on SOL. The Department has added the following occupations to the SOL on 1 July 2016:

  • Orthotist or Prosthetist (ANZSCO 251912)
  • Audiologist (ANZSCO 252711)

The Department has removed the following occupations from the SOL on 1 July 2016:

  • Mining Engineer (Excluding Petroleum) (ANZSCO 233611)
  • Petroleum Engineer (ANZSCO 233612)
  • Metallurgist (ANZSCO 234912)
  • Environmental Health Officer (ANZSCO 251311)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (ANZSCO 251312)
  • Dental Hygienist (ANZSCO 411211)
  • Dental Prosthetist (ANZSCO 411212)
  • Dental Technician (ANZSCO 411213)
  • Dental Therapist (ANZSCO 411214)

The Department has made it clear that the review of the SOL does not have any impact on the current composition of the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) which is relevant to the applicants for an Employer Nomination Scheme(ENS stream) visa, points based skilled migration (nomination by a state or territory government) visa, subclass 457 visa or subclass 402 visa.
