St Vinnies CEO Sleepout 2016

On Thursday 23 June Acorn Lawyers director James Govan participated in the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Wollongong. The annual event aims to raise money to help put an end to the 1000 people sleeping rough or homeless in the Illawarra each and every night. This year 24 CEO’s participated in the Sleepout in Wollongong. The group are aiming to raise more money than the previous years which is a great reflection on how the event has continued to grow over the years.

This year the CEOs were treated to clear skies but had to battle the cold winters air as temperatures dropped down to 6 degrees over night with a cold sea breeze.  St Vinnies provide participants with a CEO Sleepout beanie, cardboard to sleep on or build a shelter and a basic meal of soup and bread with tea, coffee and water. The CEOs themselves are only allowed to bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. The event provides CEOs with realistic insight of what it is like to be homeless as they are taken out of their comfort zones. It also is a great way to raise national awareness of the problem of homelessness in Australia.

Donations to help put an end to homelessness in Australia can still be made via
