St Vinnies Inaugural Wollongong CEO Sleepout Fundraising Dinner

$6000+ Raised at St Vincent de Paul Society CEO Sleepout Fundraising Dinner

Acorn Lawyers are proud supporters of the St Vinnies CEO Sleepout. This year the firm was co-hosts of the inaugural fundraising dinner held on Friday 1 April. The night was a great success with great food, drink and music which was enjoyed by all. One hundred and eleven people attended the event held at the Lagoon Seafood Restaurant.

The event was launched by Gareth Ward MP who himself will be sleeping out on 23rd June 2016. Throughout the night there were fundraising activities with all proceeds going towards maintaining and supplying the Vinnies Food Van which goes out to areas with high populations of homeless people in the Illawarra.

Wendell Sailor was the special guest speaker on the night, sharing his story and connection with St Vincent de Paul Society. He offered a great insight into his personal life, opening up and stressing his deep connection with helping homeless people and the issues associated with mental health. On the night Wendell announced that he will also be participating in the sleepout so that he can give back to our local community which has shown him so much love and support.

Event organisers were extremely pleased with the turnout and the support shown by local businesses on the night. They hope that the event will continue to grow bigger and better every year to eventually put an end to homelessness in the Illawarra.

The sleepout is on 23 June and this year, Acorn Lawyers director, James Govan will be sleeping out on behalf of the firm. Donations can be made to James at https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/ceos/nsw-ceos/james-govan-acorn-lawyers/ . The money raised will go directly to helping the 1000 people sleeping rough and homeless each night in the Illawarra.
